The Winnipeg Jets won against the New York Islanders, 4-3. This victory marks their eighth straight win, tying a team record. They had struggled against the Islanders recently, losing eight of their last nine games.

Alex Iafallo and Nikolaj Ehlers each scored a goal for the Jets. Gabe Vilardi scored twice in the game. Connor Hellebuyck made 32 saves, marking his 34th win this season.

The Jets’ top players started well. Vilardi got a pass from Mark Scheifele, but the Islanders goalie stopped it. Then, Scheifele led another attack. Dylan Samberg missed his shot though, and the Islanders then scored first.

Alex Iafallo then tied the game, taking the puck and scoring to make it one to one. Subsequently, the Islanders scored again later, with Marc Gatcomb making it 2-1. That score held until the first break.

Early in the second period, there was a penalty. Vilardi had a chance but did not score immediately. Soon after, Vilardi did score, tying the game at 2-2. Then, Nikolaj Ehlers scored, giving the Jets a 3-2 lead.

Vilardi scored again after that, increasing the score to 4-2. The Jets dominated the second period, recording more shots on goal.

In the third period, the Islanders scored; Kyle Palmieri’s goal made it 4-3. Late in the game, the Islanders got a power play. Hellebuyck made key saves, and the Jets maintained their lead and ultimately won.

The Jets play the Blues on February 22nd, marking their first game after a break.
