Guelph Storm makes another move, adding forward Justin Bottineau from Kitchener in a trade for a fifth-round draft pick
Guelph: The Storm is having a rough season with a record of 9-18-2-1, sitting near the bottom of the league. They’ve made it clear they’re ready to shake things up.
Just the other day, they traded away their top-six forward, Vilmer Alriksson, to Brampton. Then, they sent their number-one defenseman, Cam Allen, to the London Knights.
But this time, they’re bringing someone in! Guelph has acquired forward Justin Bottineau from the Kitchener Rangers in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick.
Bottineau, who’s 18, was picked 56th overall in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. He’s from the GTHL Toronto Marlboros and has played alongside some familiar faces.
He’s got 31 points in 140 OHL games so far. With Guelph, he’ll likely get more chances to shine compared to being in Kitchener’s bottom six.
The Rangers are doing well, tied for second overall with the Windsor Spitfires, and they might be looking to make more trades. If they grab a top-nine forward, Bottineau could find himself lower in the lineup again.
