Juan Soto is reportedly set to sign a staggering £600m deal with the New York Mets, making it the biggest contract in sports history.
New York: So, guess what? Juan Soto is about to make history with a jaw-dropping £600m deal with the New York Mets. Can you believe it? This contract is set to be the biggest in sports ever!
He’s reportedly signing a 15-year contract worth around $765m. That’s a whole lot of cash! The Mets haven’t confirmed it yet, though. Soto still needs to pass a medical check.
According to the MLB, he’ll get a $75m signing bonus right off the bat, and there’s no deferred money involved. This deal could even climb to $800m if everything goes well.
To put it in perspective, this deal beats Shohei Ohtani’s $700m contract with the Dodgers last year. Ohtani’s deal had a lot of deferred payments, which is pretty common in American sports.
Some other big contracts include Dak Prescott’s $240m deal with the Cowboys and Patrick Mahomes’ $450m extension with the Chiefs. Soto’s deal is on a whole new level!
Before this, Soto played for the Yankees and helped them reach the World Series last season. The Yankees even tried to keep him with a $760m offer, but the Mets swooped in with a better deal.
Last season, Soto had an impressive batting average of 0.288 and hit 41 home runs. He’s been a standout player, and now he’s about to make history!
