Kiké Hernández shares how a live TV slip-up almost led to a suspension and a fine during the Dodgers’ World Series journey
Los Angeles: So, Kiké Hernández had a bit of a slip-up during a live interview after a Dodgers game. He dropped an F-bomb on Fox right after they beat the San Diego Padres in Game 5 of the NL Division Series. Oops!
He got fined for it, but it could have been way worse. Initially, he was facing a game suspension too. Thankfully, his agent and the players’ union stepped in and helped him out. He ended up playing in all the crucial games against the Mets and Yankees.
Hernández talked about it on “The Shop,” saying he was just being honest when he answered a question about the team. He thought there might be a delay, but nope, he was live and cursing away. He even joked that it made the postseason more exciting for fans.
While MLB doesn’t have strict rules against swearing on TV, they can still punish players for behavior that isn’t in the best interest of baseball. The FCC has its own rules about offensive language, but usually, it’s the broadcaster that gets in trouble.
As for his future, Hernández is hoping to stick with the Dodgers. He loves playoff baseball and wants to keep that excitement going. Who wouldn’t want to be part of that action?
