New York: The Mets are bringing in lefty pitcher Brandon Waddell on a minor-league deal, as reported by FanSided’s Robert Murray. It’s an interesting move for the team.

Waddell, who’s 30, last pitched in the big leagues back in 2021. He played for the Twins, Orioles, and Cardinals as a reliever. After that, he started the 2022 season with the Cardinals’ Triple-A team but got released in July.

Since then, he’s been busy playing overseas. He spent time in the KBO and CPBL, starting games for teams like the Doosan Bears and Rakuten Monkeys. In 2024, he had a solid season with a 3.12 ERA over 75 innings.

Waddell made his MLB debut in August 2020 with the Pirates after being drafted in 2015. It’ll be interesting to see how he fits into the Mets’ plans moving forward.
