New York: The Mets are gearing up for a big celebration. They’re set to retire David Wright’s No. 5 on July 19, 2025, right before a game against the Cincinnati Reds. How cool is that?

Wright will also be inducted into the Mets’ Hall of Fame, which is a huge honor. He played for the team from 2004 to 2018 and really made his mark.

He was a homegrown talent and was on track for the Hall of Fame until injuries, like spinal stenosis, started to take a toll on his career. It’s a real bummer because he was such a star.

Wright was a seven-time All-Star and even finished in the top 10 for MVP voting three times. He won a couple of Gold Gloves too. Remember that epic home run in the 2015 World Series? The crowd went wild!

It’s great to see the Mets honoring him like this. He truly deserves it!
