Despite a rocky season, MLB teams are showing strong interest in Giants’ reliever Camilo Doval as they look to bolster their bullpens this winter
San Francisco: So, it looks like Camilo Doval is in the spotlight this winter. Even though he had a bit of a rough ride in the 2024 season, teams around the league are still eyeing him for a trade. Can you believe that?
According to a report, interest in Doval is pretty strong. Teams are on the hunt for solid relievers to beef up their bullpens. The Giants aren’t actively shopping him, but several contenders are reportedly keen on snagging him. We’re talking about teams like the Tigers, Mets, Cubs, Red Sox, Phillies, Padres, and Dodgers.
Doval had a tough season, with a 4.88 ERA over 59 innings. He even got sent down to Triple-A for a bit to work on his game. But he was called back up and still managed a 5.40 ERA in his last few outings. It seems like his past success is making other teams curious about him.
A scout mentioned that he’s seen both the good and the bad from Doval, which raises the question: which version will show up next? The Giants did tender him a contract for $2.9 million for 2025, so they see some value in keeping him around for now.
Remember, Doval was an All-Star not too long ago and can still throw a blazing 100-mph fastball. If he can get back to form, he could be a key player for the Giants next season—or maybe even for one of their rivals.
