The Pittsburgh Pirates have traded for Enmanuel Valdez from the Red Sox, sending minor leaguer Joe Vogatsky in return
Valdez had a bit of a rough season last year, hitting .214 with six home runs and 28 RBIs over 65 games. He also played some time in Triple-A, where he did a little better, batting .233 with 11 homers.
He made his big league debut in April 2023 and was even on Boston’s opening-day roster for 2024. But things changed when the Red Sox brought in Garrett Crochet from the White Sox, leading to Valdez being designated for assignment.
Valdez started his career with the Astros back in 2015 and was traded to Boston in 2022. As for Vogatsky, he’s a young guy, just 22, and was picked in the 19th round of this year’s draft. It’ll be interesting to see how this trade plays out for both teams!
