The Tampa Bay Rays have secured catcher Danny Jansen with a one-year contract worth $8.5 million, enhancing their roster for the upcoming season
St. Petersburg: So, guess what? Danny Jansen just signed a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Rays for $8.5 million. Pretty cool, right?
This contract also has a mutual option for 2026, which is worth $12 million, but there’s a $500,000 buyout if they decide to go that route.
Now, Jansen is turning 30 soon, and last season he had a bit of a rough patch, hitting .205 with nine home runs and 24 RBIs while playing for Toronto and Boston.
He made some waves last year when he played for both teams in the same suspended game. Can you believe that? He even batted for both teams in the same inning during a rain delay!
Overall, Jansen has a .220 batting average with 74 homers and 220 RBIs over his seven seasons in the big leagues. He’s been with Toronto and Boston, and now he’s ready to make an impact with the Rays.
