The Chicago White Sox have announced a new name for their stadium, dropping the “Guaranteed” from Guaranteed Rate Field to simply Rate Field
Chicago: The White Sox are making a change, but it’s not about their performance on the field. They’re dropping “Guaranteed” from Guaranteed Rate Field, and it’ll just be Rate Field now.
This change comes after years of fans poking fun at the original name. The mortgage company, Guaranteed Rate, recently rebranded to just Rate, so the stadium name follows suit.
The announcement was pretty low-key, just a quick video on social media. Interestingly, the logo will still have that big red arrow pointing down, which has been a target for criticism.
Before it was Guaranteed Rate Field, the stadium was known as U.S. Cellular Field and even Comiskey Park. It’s had quite the name journey since it opened in 1991.
Now, the White Sox are trying to bounce back from a rough season, where they set a record for losses. They’ve had a tough time all around, from their offense to their pitching.
They even traded away their best player, Garrett Crotchet, to the Red Sox. They’ve got a new manager, Will Venable, but the team’s core remains the same for now.
