The Yankees are set to bring in Devin Williams from the Brewers, trading Nestor Cortes and prospect Caleb Durbin in the process
MILWAUKEE: So, the Yankees are making some moves! They’ve just snagged Devin Williams from the Brewers. Pretty exciting, right? This comes from ESPN’s Jeff Passan, so you know it’s legit.
In return, the Yankees are sending pitcher Nestor Cortes and second base prospect Caleb Durbin to Milwaukee. It’s a big trade, and fans are buzzing about it.
Williams, who’s 30, had a solid season last year, racking up 14 saves in just 22 games. He had a rough start due to a back injury but bounced back strong, allowing only three earned runs in over 21 innings.
This guy is no stranger to the spotlight. He’s a two-time NL All-Star and even snagged the NL Rookie of the Year title back in 2020. He’s been with the Brewers his whole career, collecting 68 saves and boasting a 1.83 ERA. Not too shabby!
On the flip side, Cortes was the Opening Day starter for the Yankees but had a bit of a rough patch. He wasn’t too happy about being moved to the bullpen, so it seems like a fresh start for him in Milwaukee.
