New York: So, the Yankees just lost Juan Soto to the Mets after a year of having him. Can you believe it? He signed a massive 15-year deal worth $765 million. That’s a lot of dough!

Brian Cashman, the Yankees’ GM, was pretty chill about it, saying he has no regrets about bringing Soto to New York or losing him. He praised owner Hal Steinbrenner for trying hard to keep Soto in pinstripes.

Cashman mentioned that they went all out to keep Soto, which was unexpected. But now, with Soto gone, the Yankees have some gaps to fill. They need players for first base, second base, and at least one outfielder. Plus, they could use some fresh arms for the rotation and bullpen.

Even though they have cash to spend, Cashman made it clear they won’t be reckless with their money. He joked about not being “drunken sailors” throwing cash around. Instead, they’ll focus on building a solid team for the playoffs and the World Series.

He also reflected on the trade that brought Soto to New York, saying they knew what they were getting into. Soto was a game-changer, and he helped the Yankees become American League champs in 2024. But, of course, they fell short in the World Series.

When asked if a small increase in their offer would have kept Soto in The Bronx, Cashman shrugged and said he didn’t know. It’s a tough loss, but the Yankees are ready to move forward.
