Max Fried expresses excitement about joining the Yankees and the legacy of the team as he aims for a winning future in New York
New York: Max Fried just put on his Yankees jersey for the first time, and you can tell he’s pumped. He’s officially part of the team now, joining the starting rotation.
At 31, Fried signed a big deal worth $218 million for eight years. He’s got a lot of respect for the Yankees’ history and is eager to help them win.
“As a baseball fan, you know the Yankees have a standard,” he said. “Wearing the pinstripes comes with responsibility, and I’m ready for that.” He felt a real sense of pride putting on the jersey.
Fried knows the weight of the pinstripes. “A lot of great players have worn these,” he said. “I can’t wait to play at Yankee Stadium and contribute to this legendary franchise.”
Since starting with the Braves in 2017, Fried has been a solid pitcher, boasting a 3.07 ERA and making the playoffs seven times. He even helped the Braves win the World Series in 2021.
“Winning is my top priority,” he mentioned. “Every year, the Yankees aim for the World Series. I want to be in a place where I can win consistently.”
Fried was surprised when the Yankees showed interest, but he quickly perked up. “When the Yankees come calling, you listen,” he said.
Walking through Yankee Stadium, he felt reassured by the team’s motto: “prepare, compete, win.” Those words really hit home for him.
“I’m all about preparing and giving my best on the field,” he said. “I’m thrilled to be part of the Yankees and can’t wait to start in Tampa.”
He knows some players struggle in New York, but he’s ready for the challenge. Fried has pitched at Yankee Stadium before, but he’s excited to finally do it under the bright lights.
“There’s no bigger stage than New York,” he said. “I can’t wait to feel that energy and buzz when I step onto the field.”
