The Yankees have re-signed Jonathan Loaisiga to a one-year deal, aiming to strengthen their bullpen for the upcoming season
New York: The Yankees are bringing back a familiar face for their bullpen. They’ve signed RHP Jonathan Loaisiga to a one-year deal, as reported by ESPN’s Jorge Castillo. This contract also includes a team option for 2026.
Loaisiga had a few teams chasing him, like the Mets and Padres, but he chose to stick with the Yankees. It’s good to see him back in The Bronx.
At 30, Loaisiga had a tough time last season, missing most of 2024 due to surgery for a torn UCL. Thankfully, he didn’t need Tommy John surgery. Instead, he had a quicker recovery option and is expected to be ready for Spring Training.
In recent years, injuries have been a real struggle for him. He only made 17 appearances in 2023, but he had solid seasons in 2021 and 2022 with over 50 games each year.
Last season was rough, with just three appearances, where he gave up seven hits and one walk in four innings, striking out three batters. But he’s got a decent career ERA of 3.44 over 163 games, all with the Yankees.
