New York: The Yankees just made a big move by trading for Devin Williams, the All-Star closer from the Brewers. They sent Nestor Cortes and prospect Caleb Durbin to Milwaukee in return.

Along with the players, the Yankees are also sending over a cool million bucks to the Brewers. Williams, who’s 30, had some injury issues this season but still managed to shine when he was on the mound.

He’s got a solid record, with a 1.25 ERA and 14 saves in 15 chances this year. His fastball is impressive, averaging nearly 95 mph, and he mixes it up with a nasty changeup called the “Airbender.”

Williams has been an All-Star for the last two years and has a great overall career record. The Brewers opted for a buyout instead of keeping him, which opened the door for this trade.

On the flip side, Cortes, who just turned 30, was an All-Star in 2022 but has had his share of injuries lately. He struggled with a rotator cuff issue this past season and had a rough outing in the World Series.

He’s got a decent career record, but the Yankees have a lot of pitching depth now, especially after signing Max Fried. They’re looking to strengthen their rotation.

As for Durbin, he’s a promising young player who had a solid season in Triple-A. Yankees manager Aaron Boone thinks he’s got a bright future ahead, with skills both at the plate and on the bases.

It’s an exciting time for Yankees fans as they look to bolster their roster for the upcoming season!
